Not everyone knows that the months of February and March are “carnival” season in Italy (similarly to other places in the world). Usually when people think of “festival” or “carnival” and “Italy” in the same sentence they think of the mask festival in Venice. Little do most people know that all throughout Italy and its neighboring countries there are festivals, mask parades, fairs and whatnot.
It is no coincidence that these colorful happy events are held from the end of February until the middle of March. They mark the beginning of spring and the coming out of the long, cold winter hibernation.
Although the temperatures are still cold and there is still rain and even snow sometimes, this is the season in Italy where everyone starts to “wake up” – nature and people alike. Instagram accounts of Italians are filled with happy images of celebration, flowers, green grass, sunny days and sunglasses selfies 🙂
If you visit Italy during this season you can enjoy lower prices (it still isn’t the high season) and amazing views, nature walks, great food, good music and tons of fun and laughter in the many festivals all throughout the country, from the largest busiest cities to the smallest mountain hamlets.
So, it is with great pleasure we announce “la primavera!” here in Porlezza and invite you to spend some great time with us 🙂 The Apartments are open and ready for guests!
